my toy poodle will only poo and pee in our garden and nowhere else.
we can go out for the day and she will hold onto it till she gets home. please help me!
Hi Tracy This is actually more common than you may think, and many dogs will 'hold it' until they get to their customary potty spot if they possibly can!
There really isn't an answer to this problem, other than to say that if she really HAS to 'go', then she will - even if she's not in the back yard. Often a dog who is used to peeing/pooping on grass will refuse to eliminate on any other surface (such as concrete, sand, gravel etc.) unless they are desperate.
So, when you're out or away from home make sure you are offering her a similar environment in which to pee whenever you can, and then leave it up to nature to take it's course.
There are 'scent posts' and sprays that you can buy for puppy potty training and these contain pheromones which are said to help encourage, or trigger, the desire to urinate. You could maybe try taking one of these with you when you go out for the day, it may help.
