sleeping and potty for 11 week old pup
I have an 11 weeks old golden retriever and she is a wonderful puppy. She sleeps anywhere from 10, 10:30 to 5:30.
I let her out and she goes only a little. Should I just let her cry at that time or am I doing the right thing by letting her out?
When will she sleep longer?
To go from 10:30 at night until 5:30 in the morning is very good for an 11 week old pup, especially as she then lets you know that she needs to go out.
I wouldn't advise leaving her to whine at this point or chances are she'll need to eliminate in her crate (or wherever she sleeps) and that will ruin the excellent progress you've made so far.
All pups are different and there's no hard and fast rule about how old they need to be before sleeping through the night. However, technically your pup IS sleeping through the night and as she matures she will gradually sleep a bit later in the morning.
You could try letting her out for her last potty break and putting her to be a little later in the evening. That way she may sleep later in the morning, but there are no guarantees. If I were you I would be happy with what's happening for now and just give it time.
You can get lots of tips and advice on housebreaking on my Potty Train A Puppy and Crate Training A Puppy pages.
Best of luck with your pup.
