My 10 month old miniature poodle is sometimes housebroken he will pee outside and poop from time to time in the house he knows his spot outside to potty.
He just has accidents sometime and when he does he hides and won't come to you when you call him. If you stop him in the act making a loud noise and say No! He still continues to finish. I take him directly outside to his spot and tell him to go potty. I have had him since he was 8 weeks old. I don't know what is wrong, I need help.
Hi Your pup is old enough to control his bowels, and he is generally good about doing his business outside, so it sounds as though he's simply got into the habit of pooping indoors when he feels like it.
Maybe when it's cold/wet outside, or he's feeling tired/lazy or whatever. Puppies and dogs are creatures of habit and in order to stop him doing this you're going to need to be very consistent and patient and prevent him from having the opportunity to mess indoors.
You'll need to break this habit and make sure he 'forgets' about it. That takes time.
If he has a crate, use it a lot more. If he doesn't have one, I'd strongly recommend getting one. Don't allow him to roam around the house unsupervised, if he's indoors and not crated he needs to be close to you and be supervised.
Learn his 'body language' and what he does BEFORE he starts to poop - some dogs circle, most sniff around pretty intensely, some whine. Find out what your pup does, and if you see him behaving that way, get him outside immediately.
Clean the areas he's soiled previously with an enzymatic cleaner to remove all traces of the odor that's attracting him back to the same spot over and over.
This behavior can be fixed, but it will take time, patience and consistency. I'd recommend that you read the following pages/articles too. They may help. Best of luck with your pup
