i have a pom/yorkie mix, is about 2 mths old now. having problems on training him to go on pee pads. i let him sniff the pads, and showed him where to go....have 1 pad in the bathroom, and one in the kitchen.
he rather just go on the floor. what i'm i doing wrong????
Hi Shirl Your puppy is still a very little baby, and just showing him the pee pee pads isn't enough. He has no idea that he's supposed to use them, and ONLY them, as far as he is concerned the whole world is a 'potty spot'.
I'd recommend that you use a crate if at all possible, and encourage him to eliminate outdoors rather than on pee pee pads. If this is impossible due to where you live, or the weather, a dog litter-tray is a better option than pee pads. Most pups see these pads as toys and prefer to rip them up than pee on them!
I strongly suggest that you read my ,a href="http://www.fidosavvy.com/potty-train-a-puppy.html">Potty Train A Puppy and Crate Training A Puppy pages. They have tons of tips and advice on housebreaking which apply whether you use pee pads, a tray, or the back yard.
Being consistent, now allowing your pup the chance to 'make mistakes' (by supervising him closely, taking him to his potty spot every 30 mins or so etc.) and having patience are all important.
Housebreaking a puppy is not an 'overnight' process, but if you follow the tips and advice I've given you should be successful in time. Best of luck with your little guy.
